CCI-LEX - Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of school is CCI-LEX?
We are an English as a Second Language (ESL) school with non-profit status. We offer classes to both permanent and temporary residents of Canada.

Can I apply for, or renew, a Student Visa?
We can provide documentation and forms to assist you in applying. We require payment of three months full-time tuition in advance (see our "classes" page for prices), and we will provide confirmation of registration from one year of the start date.

How many hours a week is considered full-time?
We consider 30 hours per week as full-time study. Most students attend Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch.

Am I allowed to study at CCI-LEX if I am in Canada on a Visitor's Visa?
Citizenship and Immigration Canada allows visitors to study for up to six months.

Where do your students come from?
Last year, CCI-LEX taught students from 74 different countries.

How often do classes start?
CCI-LEX has ongoing enrollment, which means you can start anytime, provided there is space available!  There is no scheduled start or end date for CCI classes and LEX students may register for classes beginning the following Monday.

How much does it cost to attend CCI-LEX?
Our prices are very reasonable with no hidden charges. Visit our "classes" page to see prices for specific classes.

How can I pay for the classes?
We accept credit and debit cards, bank drafts, cheques, and cash.

Can I receive financial help to attend CCI-LEX?
CCI-LEX offers great classes at very affordable rates.  The CCI Program does not provide financial assistance and Alberta Employment and Immigration funds the LEX program, which allows us to offer learning to all citizens and residents.

Do I have to buy textbooks?
Both programs use an excellent text book series.  CCI students pay a one-time $50.00 material fee, which covers the cost of their textbook & workbook and any supplemental information.  LEX students receive their level textbook the first day of class, and all LEX materials are included with registration fees.

How many students are in each class?
It varies. Regular ESL classes have a maximum enrollment of 16. Conversation and TOEFL classes have a maximum enrollment of 7 students.

What qualifications do the instructors have?
CCI classes are taught by highly qualified ESL professionals. Learning Exchange classes are taught by volunteers, with ongoing training and support from an ESL professional.
